A recent note from Holly Hansen describes an up coming event in Ogden, Utah. Here’s what she wrote:
On Oct. 6-7, the Northern Utah Family History Conference will take place in Ogden, Utah at the Eccles Conference Center – offering exciting presenters and exhibitors from all over the United States. Here are a few of the highlights:
Elder Marlin K. Jensen will be speaking in the opening session. Elder Jensen is the LDS Church historian/recorder and the executive director of the Church and Family History Department in Salt Lake City, Utah.
DearMYRTLE, “your friend in genealogy,” is the Friday evening dinner speaker. DearMYRTLE is the nom de plume of Pat Player Richley, author of DearMYRTLE’s Joy of Genealogy, The Everything Online Genealogy Book, and the Family History Hour podcast.
“Remember the Tears,” presented in the Egyptian Theater on both nights of the conference, will offer original vignettes, music, and art telling the stories of tragedy, humor, romance, and triumph of the belated Mormon pioneer companies of 1856. This production was written by Jolene Allphin and Sherryl Fowers. Tickets are free with registration, but seating will be limited.
Professional Instructors will help you learn what you need to get off and running with your family history research. Enjoy classes like Wagon Trains and Indian Fights, PAF computer lab, Joy of Genealogy, Opening the Granite Mountain Vault, Care and Repair of Photographs, Tracing Ladies, and more.
